LAS DUNAS in Formentera

FORMENTERA. We used to spend our July holidays at Las Dunas. We did it for five years in a row, until it got too pricey. Prices doubled in 2 years for the same thing. So we started to withdraw, first to Es Caló, then to the “mountains” of La Mola.
It has gone through a few changes. Identical square white tables instead of the old round ones of random sizes. The wood table with benches, under the tree where my Philosophy classes were imparted, has gone too.
Still it is a nice place, by the long and narrow, rocks and sand beauty of Mitjorn beach. Still I can remember the emotion of arriving there those years. The love that was.
Still nice to have a paella by the pool, relishing the place. We do it every year. Still a wonder to swim at the beach in front of the houses, at 7 in the morning, with the rising sun.
I wouldn’t mind to stay there for a week, but not a long holiday, my love now elsewhere. I would, for the sake of the old flame.

  1. Hello:
Perhaps it is always something of a mistake to return to somewhere which really belongs to a previous time of life. Things are never the same and so one misses the reassuring sameness which drew one to it in the first place.

The wonderful sandy beaches look to be so very beautiful and of course the wonderfully blue sea. Best to remain a happy memory we feel.

  3. You cannot beat a holiday by the beach! I do miss family vacations as a child when we would decamp from the country to the beach for several weeks!

  4. Such a photo can only provoke me to drop everything, buy a ticket, and go to the sea.
