THE ARTIST is: Michel Hazanavicius

FILMS. Remember the name. The theater, at the San Sebastian Film Festival venue, stood on an unending ovation to the French director Michel Hazanavicious, a shy man on jeans with an unlikely name. The movie, The Artist (2011), is filmed as a black&white silent movie and for moments it would appear that he was playing just to show off that to make a great movie you don't need neither color nor sound either.
We went to the view with W and A, our guests in San Sebastian for an extended weekend of films. W and I were the last ones to stop applauding, really excited by the film. I then went to congratulate Hazanavicius, a moment to store. Watch out this man!

  2. Yes, I'm W. This film is absolutely a must. Pet didn't mention the main actors, Jean Dujardin, who won the Best Actor Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, and Bérénice Bejo, Hazanavicius' wife, with a delicious interpretation.

  4. It also got this year's audience award at San Sebastian's Festival, if that counts for something. I think you will like it. I haven't watched oss117 yet, but for what you hint it cannot be that good, n'est pas?

  7. Hello:
Surely a name that cannot be forgotten in a hurry, but not said in a hurry either!! This sounds like a film that we should enjoy and so is now firmly on our list.
