On Friday we made a fire on the field to burn some fallen tree limbs, and refreshed ourselves drinking cider from Brittany. That happened in the morning. Then we ate a lunch of red meat and vegetables with a young Tempranillo from Labastida (Rioja). After a nice walk around, Maria prepared her seafood fideua for the evening and we ate it with a Sauvignon from Chateau Bertinerie, a wine that a friend of Hervé makes close to Blaye (Bordeaux).
On Saturday we walked long over the green hills, the rain menacing but never falling, the air translucent. We had a late lunch, hungry at four in the afternoon, of curried chicken and salad, with sangria, and kept the Blanc de Blanc - 1999 Millesime - Deutz Champagne for the quiet evening.
On Sunday I got up early and went to walk on my own with the early birds and the cool morning for company. A beautiful sun rose for the day. The girls sat in the "Presidio" to read in the sun (the "Presidio" being the enclosed patio of the fortress-house) and I went with W to see how the river came this year through N. The farewell lunch of Mexican tacos with red and green peppers went by with a bottle of Grand-Maison 2004, Hervé's Cotes de Bourg.
