FITZCARRALDO (1982) by Werner Herzog

FILMS. I've got a friend that is going to become a Captain, a real ship Captain, now on his fifties. We should celebrate it going over the mountains on a ship, like Fitzcarraldo, listening to Aida on a gramophone. It is not enough to dream. One must dream big. The rest is but drifting.
I watched the film, once more, yesterday. It was like sliding on ice, the wheel on the right, Traviata at full high, again on the Brighton road, the startling feeling, the strong smell of life.

  1. I'd never heard of the movie (I left Germany in 1980), but looking it up on Wikipedia, I found that it sounds like a bizarre plot. But I love classical music in any movie!

  3. This was an amazing film and high drama in the making. Do you fancy yourselves as Hertzog and Kinski?
