LA RAMPA

FOOD. La Rampa used to me my favorite place to have fish in San Sebastian. I remember, once, having dinner 3 times on the same week there! That was before the crisis :-) 
If you survive it, it wouldn't be a bad place to celebrate it. The fish is the best around and they've got good white wines to go with it too. You will not find much more, but who needs more.


La Rampa solía ser mi lugar favorito para comer pescado en San Sebastian. Recuerdo, una vez, que cené 3 veces en la misma semana allí. Esto antes de la crisis :-)
Si consigues sobrevivir a ella, no sería un mal sitio para celebrarlo. El pescado es el mejor de la zona y tienen buenos blancos para acompañarlo también. No hay mucho más, pero quién necesita más.

    It seems to us that good fish restaurants are as rare as hen's teeth!! Indeed, even in places known for the quality of fish which is available they do not always seem able to present it on a plate tasting delicious. La Rampa is clearly fishy heaven and should be treasured!!

  3. Just found your blog having been on to Vienna Daily Photo. I have never been to Spain but I must say your shots of the country side are very nice. I normally visit cities or the country side. Spain has been on the 'long finger' Hopefully some time soon!

    Thanks for visiting my blog. I like yours too, and I can relate finding a favorite place and eating there multiple times when traveling. I hate to be disappointed in food, and would rather go for the sure thing than risk having an under-whelming meal.

  8. Despite the fact that we live in a country that is full of lake, it's not the easiest thing to obtain fresh fish around here. This is why I have really enjoyed reading your post, and bookmarked it in case I visit that place.

  12. Thanks for stopping by and, yes, I DO like your blog. Totally agree that good fish and white wine are a perfect meal. Although on a 5-day trip to Rome recently I ate at my fave place 3 times and had the same dish too—pasta, of course. :~}

One of my memorable meals is of fish,bread and local white wine eaten somewhere near the harbour in San Sebastian,on a beautiful evening many years ago.Friends and I had spent the summer travelling around Spain and were on our way home to resume our studies.I always thought it had something to do with the fact that we were tired and hungry but from what you say this was no illusion.
    Thanks for the memory!

  15. ostras Pet, este bar está al lado del puerto? te acuerdas que una vez te comenté que habia comido un changurro buenísimo en SAn Sebastián? cero que fue allí y me debí de equivocar de nombre pues las mesas son iguales.. cuantos hay en esa zona? dos o tres verdad? dime que es allí? preciosas fotos!! y de nuevo qué afortunado eres viviendo allí!

  16. Colores, sí, hay varios en el mismo muelle del Puerto. La Rampa es el último de todos, junto a la rampa misma, de ahí el nombre. Luego está ya el Aquarium. El changurro está muy bueno, aunque yo soy más de rodaballo con un Verdejo :-)

  17. cada vez que veo la foto estoy más convencida de que fue allí! vete tú a saber por qué pensaba que se llamaba Igueldo! yo soy más de marisco...pero un buen pescado nunca viene mal:-))
