LA MOLA in Formentera 2

FORMENTERA. T, a neighbor now in La Mola, took me early in the morning to Cala Codolar and then to Sa Cala, up and down the cliffs of La Mola. T was the first one leaving Las Dunas for this Promised Land.
While we climbed over rocks with the roaring sea below, I moaned to him about the last bakery in La Mola not making bread and almond pastries any more. I went there the first day when we arrived this year in Formentera, for my almond crocantes, and they didn't bake them no more.
T told me not to despair. Xico, a fisherman from La Mola had taken over the bakery from the old baker, who had a heart attack this last winter, and had consequently retired. Xico is no baker, but goes and fishes in the mornings with his boat and then in the evenings he prepares fish parrilladas at the old bakery.
Thomas Mann wrote his last book of Joseph and his brothers (Joseph the Provider) in Santa Monica, California. He could as well have written it in La Mola, Formentera.
T, vecino ahora en La Mola, me llevó temprano por la mañana a Cala Codolar y a Sa Cala también, arriba y abajo los acantilados de La Mola. T fue el primero que dejó Las Dunas por esta Tierra Prometida.
Mientras subíamos por las rocas, con el ruido del mar debajo, me quejé de que la última panadería que quedaba en La Mola no hacía más pan ni pasteles de almendras. Fui el primer día, cuando llegamos este año a Formentera, a por mis crocantes y no tenían horno ya.
T me dijo que no desesperara. Xico, un pescador de La Mola había ocupado el lugar del viejo panadero, que había sufrido un ataque al corazón el último invierno y se había retirado. Xico no es panadero, pero va a pescar por las mañanas con su bote y por las tardes prepara parrilladas de pescado en la vieja panadería.
Thomas Mann escribió su último libro de José y sus hermanos (José el Proveedor) en Santa Monica, California. Podría haberlo escrito en La Mola, Formentera.

  6. I was in Seville and parts of Andalusia last September... now you have piqued my interest in Formentera (which I had to "map")!
