Furthermore, like if it were an allegory, it has left me thinking that we all have to "complete", someway. And like them in the book, we know it too, and we do not rebel either.
Además, como si fuera una alegoría, me ha dejado el pensamiento de que todos tenemos que "completar" (la vida), de una u otra manera. Y como los protagonistas del libro, lo sabemos, y no nos rebelamos tampoco.
Hello:
ReplyDeleteThank you for this recommendation which we shall most certainly seek out. Ishiguro is a writer we much admire.
Jó hétvégét!
If I can keep my emotions in check, I will try reading this book!
ReplyDeleteThis week Pet you have put a movie on my to watch list, and now a book on my to read list!! :)
I read this book, Pet. It was so horrific, I hesitate to recommend it. I suppose people should read it because having the storyline become a reality is not outside the realm of possiblity. It was worse than sad. There isn't a word for it. The characters lack of rebellion and total acceptance of their lot infuriated me, but I see you're right....we all do the same in so many little ways.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it's good....but "lack of rebellion"...no... that would be too much to take for an old rebel like me.....
ReplyDeleteDo widzenia!
Why do we do these things to ourselves?...I mean read books that make us cry. I cried ridiculously when I read Secret Lives of Bees, but then the movie, it did not touch me so.
ReplyDeleteActually, I was thinking about reading this book. But now . . .
ReplyDeleteI just read some reviews and would have to agree that this is a book that would haunt you for some time. I would not see the movie unless I had read the book... hummm
ReplyDeleteThanks for your thoughts on this book.

This book is almost devastating! It stayed with me for weeks after I read it. Surprisingly, the movie is just as spectacular and touching. I love the character Kathy.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I actually cried reading this book last year. I wish I hadn't read it. I will not watch the movie. Life should be about things that make us happy...like a drink with friends!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know it was a book when I saw the movie. It was definitely heartbreaking. It's worth watching though; the acting was perfect.
