ICH BIN EIN GRIECHE

BIKING. We have spent the last 2 weeks on a bike, following several German rivers. The Main, the Tauber, the Wörnitz, the last two wearing little or none water - in an unusual extremely hot German summer - and at last, across the Danube, the full force of the Lech coming from the Alps, full of singing fresh water.
We started pedaling, North to South, in Würzburg, and on our first night on route (in Werkheim) we found our first Greek restaurant, by the Tauber, where it reaches the Main. The food and wine were great but even better was the people there. Germans, in German restaurants, were by comparison duller, lazier.
Imbued by the spirit of J.F.Kennedy's "Ich bin ein Berliner" we declared ourselves honorary Greeks in defense of a more decent world, where the arrogant and incompetent were finally beaten by the justice of those who do the real work.
Then, along the trip, we searched for, found  - and ate - in several Greek restaurants, most of them excellent, and in some good German restaurants too. All of them were our real heroes.
